Scarlett Moffatt reveals she still sends messages to Caroline Flack two months after star’s tragic death

Scarlett Moffatt has revealed that she still sends Caroline Flack messages, two months after the Love Island star’s tragic death.

Scarlett, 30, who recently revealed her heartbreak at only being able to see her granny through the window amid the coronavirus pandemic, made the revelation on 30 year old Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast.

Speaking about her late friend, whose friends recently shared emotional tributes to mark two months since her death, the I’m A Celebrity star said: “I still now message Caroline (Flack) on her Instagram and I know some people might be like, ‘well, why’d you do that?’

“But I still just message her love hearts and things like that. She’s still always in my thoughts because it’s just so sad and also angering that that happened.”

Touched by the Gogglebox star’s gesture, Kate replied: “So you message her just to feel close to her?”

To which Scarlett responded: “Yeah, and I just hope people are a little bit kinder. You know that saying, ‘stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me’? Well they do. That’s the thing, they do.”

Speaking about her own struggle with the public, she continued: “I still now am not like 100 per cent, ‘oh yeah, this doesn’t bother me.’ There are still some thing’s that I read and think, ‘oh, that hurt.'”

Referencing her recent interview with Grazia, where she spoke about calling Samaritans after feeling overwhelmed by the messages cruel trolls were sending her, Scarlett said people also wrote horrible things about her nose.

She said: “I was getting loads of stick for my nose. But this is the nose I was born with.

“Then I started posting photos of myself from when I was younger. And I kept thinking, ‘who am I trying to prove myself to? Even if I had, what does it matter because it’s my body. Why does it bother people so much?'”

The TV personality went on to describe her calls with the mental health charity as she explained: “I’d give a fake name and I’d chat for 15 minutes. It really, really did help.”

Scarlett added: “I think, ‘God, how must they be feeling to have so much hatred towards someone they have never met?'”

She’s now able to deal with the negative and judgemental comments people throw her way much better, as she said: “I want my platform to stand for something different, to show people you’re not just the sum of your parts or what you look like.

“Despite everything that’s happened since Caroline Flack’s passing, it’s clear that sadly nothing is going to change anytime soon. But that just tells me that we need to keep shouting.

“I feel lucky it didn’t have tragic consequences for me because it truly could have.”
