Trump brings streaming providers on board

Ex-President Trump wants to operate his own online platform under the name “Truth Social”. With the streaming provider Rumble, the Republican is now getting technical support in-house. The Canadian company is to implement video functions for the network.

The company behind the planned Internet platform of former US President Donald Trump has signed a contract with a Canadian streaming service provider. As the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) announced, the video service Rumble, which is popular with conservatives, is to provide “far-reaching technology and cloud services” for Trump’s platform. The 75-year-old is planning his own subscription video service called TMTG +.

Trump has announced his own platform as an alternative to the “tyranny” of the big technology corporations. It will operate under the name “Truth Social” and will be launched at the beginning of next year. Rumble will now provide the “critical backbone” for the video functions of the new platform, said the Republican.

After storming the Capitol on January 6, Trump was banned from major online platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Radical Republican supporters had invaded the seat of the US Congress at the time to obstruct the official confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in last year’s presidential election. Trump is accused of poking people online beforehand. He has not recognized his electoral defeat against Biden to this day. During his tenure, Trump had been very active in the online services. More than 88 million people followed him on Twitter alone.

Trump is still very popular with the conservative base and is toying with a renewed presidential candidacy in 2024. He recently announced that he would bring his planned platform public with the help of financially strong investors. US regulators are currently examining a corresponding deal worth hundreds of millions of euros between Trump’s company and Digital World Acquisition Corp.
