The 32 games of the first round of the DFB Cup promise great entertainment. Thomas Broich loses big derbies. Eintracht Braunschweig welcomes Hamburger SV. Two traditional clubs meet in the Revier, Berlin duels Stuttgart and Bayern have to go to Bremen.
The most beautiful competition in German football returns with a bang. At the draw for the first round of the DFB Cup, expert and “Losfee” Thomas Broich demonstrated a sure instinct. He presented the fans with large, prestigious duels and numerous derbies. Record winner FC Bayern Munich has to go to Bremen, of course not to the relegated Werder, but to the league club Bremer SV. They cheered loudly at the draw that was broadcast in the “Sportschau”.
“It’s just really awesome,” said coach Benjamin Eta, who called Bayern’s new coach Julian Nagelsmann “my absolute favorite coach”.
