The Japanese manufacturer Denon, which needs no introduction in the world of home cinema, has just announced the imminent release of a new Dolby Atmos compatible soundbar model. The DHT-S517, which will land by the end of the month at a price of €399, is based on a 3.1.2 system comprising seven speakers. Unlike many direct competitors, this one also includes two speakers dedicated to the height channels for Dolby Atmos streams (in addition to the five others distributed over the left / center / right channels). The bar is also accompanied by a wireless subwoofer to extend its reproduction in the lowest frequencies.

The DHT-S517 opts for a relatively simple approach in terms of connectivity: no connected functionalities, but all the same the usual Bluetooth wireless connection, and a connection consisting of two HDMI ports (including an eARC), an optical S/PDIF input and a mini-jack input. According to the information provided by the manufacturer, Denon’s new soundbar is capable of decoding Dolby Digital Plus, True HD and DTS-HD Master multichannel streams, but is limited to Dolby Atmos 3D audio streams (no DTS compatibility :X).

The DHT-S517 is content with a very simplistic display consisting of five LEDs aligned on top of the bar. The various integrated buttons allow you to power on, change source, manage the Bluetooth connection and adjust the volume. For more options, you have to turn to the included remote control which offers, in addition to the functions mentioned above, to adjust the rendering of the dialogues to the user’s convenience thanks to an equalizer or to juggle between the modes of plays, of which there are four: Film, Music, Night and Pure.
