Action-RPG is a genre popular with gamers around the world in recent years, and the same goes for one of its sub-genres. Hack ‘n’ slash has rarely been so represented on PC and/or consoles with no less than three major titles: Diablo IV, Last Epoch and of course Path of Exile. The sequel to the last mentioned game was supposed to be released next June, but Path of Exile 2 has just been postponed.

Path of Exile 2 beta postponed

Path of Exile 2 will not be released in June 2024. To be precise, its beta will not start next June. Grinding Gear Games studios have just announced the terrible news during GGG Live dedicated to PoE 2 on March 21, 2024. Indeed, the Action-RPG long awaited by fans of the genre will enter alpha within three months (i.e. June 2024) thus pushing back the future beta to the end of the year without further details.

Those who are impatiently awaiting this Hack ‘n’ slash planned for PC and consoles will have to be patient before being able to explore a reinvented continent of Wraeclast and discover an in-depth redesigned gameplay. This is good news for Eleventh Hour Games and Blizzard Entertainment who can breathe a little longer before seeing their main rival challenge them on their land. Last Epoch, released with great fanfare on February 21, as well as Diablo IV and its future seasons, are safe for a few more months.

A new character class

Grinding Gear Games took advantage of its GGG Live on March 21, 2024 to present a new character class. After recently introducing the Mercenary, it is time for New Zealand studios to extend their arms to an archetype very popular with Action-RPG players. The Ranger emerges from his forest to take aim at the heart of the corrupted hordes that defile the dark and brutal continent of Wraeclast. For around fifteen minutes, this class was dissected by the developers.

It is defined primarily by its agility, speed and ability to inflict damage from a distance. This outstanding archer uses different types of arrows with varied effects (lightning, poison, etc.) and several skills always represented by gems to equip to survive. Whether facing common enemies or bosses, the Ranger controls the battlefield by slowing them down and attacking from all sides. He stands out for his ability to “snipe” his targets to make critical attacks and to create devastating elemental combos. There are many secrets yet to be discovered regarding this class in Path of Exile 2. Grinding Gear Games has barely scratched the surface.
