Working hard to make Path of Exile 2 a sequel that all hack and slash fans will agree with, Grinding Gear Games has some new announcements to make about it.

The release of Path of Exile 2 is fast approaching, for the pleasure of fans of the excellent first opus, but also to attract new fans. As such, to make our mouths water, Grinding Gear Games presents us with the gameplay of a deeply reworked class from the first. But this good news is accompanied by other, less encouraging but understandable news. Speaking of the first opus and to wait, some nice content is coming with the next expansion!

The Ranger returns in Path of Exile 2, better than ever

Grinding Gear Games intends to make Path of Exile 2 the most complete hack’n slash possible to please all fans of this fascinating genre. The studio prepares 12 starting classes, two for each combination of main characteristics of Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence. As such, the Ranger class, focused on Dexterity and Intelligence, showed us all the strings it has in its magic quiver.

Already present in the first Path of Exile, it has undergone a nice overhaul that is far from trivial. It is indeed capable of moving while shooting, something that we have almost never seen in a hack’n slash. In addition to this, the Ranger will have a nice arsenal of skills aimed at making it a class that is as agile as it is deadly. See instead!

Unfortunately, the New Zealand studio’s ambitions around Path of Exile 2 come at a price. While we should have seen a beta released in June, it has unfortunately been postponed until later in the year, without further details. In its place will be an alpha, obviously much more closed. A blessing in disguise, allowing the game to be as refined as possible when it can pass into the hands of players who can’t wait to try it. In any case, we wish the best to the team in this great company!

The first opus takes you to the grave to wait

Fortunately, fans of the franchise will not be bored until then, since the first opus will also be entitled to new content. This will take the form of an extension with a very evocative name: Necropolis, expected on March 29 on PC, Mac and consoles. The dead spirits in Wraeclast are angry and make it known by tormenting the monsters of the world to sow chaos. It’s up to us to bring them back to where they came from. To do this, we can enlist the services of the Gravedigger. Thanks to the Lantern of Arimor that he provides us, we will be able to capture these spirits. From a purely gameplay point of view, this will allow us to bring his spirits back to a tomb, in exchange for powerful treasures. Depending on the spirits captured, we can go in search of the best possible loot.

The Necropolis expansion is also an opportunity for Path of Exile to welcome new difficulty levels in the endgame, with maps that can go up to level 17. New bosses and monsters will join the celebrations. Finally, the endgame Scarabs system will undergo a major overhaul for even more original and difficult content, and the rewards that go with it. This is some great content while waiting for its worthy successor, or even a season 4 on paper that is very promising for Diablo 4.
