Expected in July, the first season of Diablo IV will be presented in good and due form by Blizzard very soon.

Rod Fergusson, license manager, has indeed indicated that the team of the studio’s latest event game will gather in the coming days to tell us more about it, launch date included.

Opening of the summer season in Hell

Almost a month after a record-breaking launch, Diablo IV is about to see its first injection of big content aimed at fueling it for the long term in the form of a first season. Like Diablo III: Reaper of Soulsthis should be accompanied by a major patch and many new features to garnish the endgame in particular.

If we knew that it would be deployed in July, Blizzard had until then been quite stingy with information about it. That should change no later than next week, according to license manager Rod Fergusson.

A stream, which the game team calls “developer update”, will be organized in this sense and which should present us, in addition to its launch date, the content that will occupy us on Diablo IV for the next few months.

What to expect from this first season of Diablo IV

If the operation of the seasons of Diablo IV is inspired by the expansion of the third installment, we should expect the introduction of one or more more or less new mechanics aimed at bringing some freshness to the gameplay loop. We had already had echoes suggesting the return of runic words, an element present in Diablo II and allowing you to add powerful effects to your equipment via specific word combinations.

In all likelihood, the novelties of this first season will have a greater impact on the endgame, which received some welcome adjustments during the last major update deployed on the game after a DDoS attack this Sunday.

Note that the season system will involve starting from scratch with a so-called “seasonal” character. Fortunately, it will not be necessary to redo the entire story and leave the stables with his faithful steed. As for a second character with whom we have the possibility of spending the campaign, our seasonal character will have direct access to the teleporters of the main cities of each region, in order to begin his leveling phase more quietly.

Another (much less welcome) element that will be deployed with the first season: a cosmetic-only Seasonal Battle Pass. We know the sad music: it will be divided into a free part with the bare minimum, and a paying part necessarily much better stocked. Those who have acquired the Deluxe and Ultimate editions will in any case have unlocked the paid part of the Battle Pass for this first season.

See you next week to find out for sure and find out if this first season will be worth returning to Sanctuary or not.
