At the beginning of October 1997, Trevor Rees-Jones was allowed to leave the French clinic and return to Great Britain. At that time he could initially only communicate by whispering and writing. In May 1998 he quit his job as a bodyguard. He moved to his family in Shropshire, western England, and, according to media reports, worked for some time in a small family-run sportswear store.
With the help of a ghostwriter, Trevor Rees-Jones then wrote a book about the accident, which was published in 2000 and was called “The Bodyguard’s Story: Diana, the Crash, and the Sole Survivor.” , the accident and the only survivor”). He wanted to put an end to the bizarre stories and conspiracy theories surrounding the events of August 31, 1997. In the book he stated that he had little memory of the accident.
According to rumors, Trevor Rees-Jones is said to have earned the equivalent of more than a million euros with his written story. However, he is said to have spent most of it on legal fees, after he told the Sun was involved in a series of legal proceedings with the Al-Fayed family in England and France.
Second marriage for Trevor Rees-Jones
According to British media reports, Rees-Jones is said to have married a second time in 2003; he separated from his first wife shortly before the accident in Paris. The former soldier and bodyguard, who was born in Germany in 1968 as the son of a British army doctor and a nurse and spent the first ten years of his life there, has since withdrawn from the public eye.
As the British “Daily Mail” reported in June 2021, he is supposed to work as head of security for a large pharmaceutical company. Before that, he worked, among other things, for the United Nations and for an oil company based in the USA.
As “The Sun” has found out, Trevor Rees-Jones now lives in seclusion in England with his wife and two children. An unnamed source told the paper that Trevor was living a “peaceful” and “quiet” life. According to the insider, he hardly talks about the accident anymore.
