Diane Kruger in an interview about beauty and skin care

GALA: Your career started with your great looks. What does beauty mean to you?

Diane Kruger: At my age, it’s about a lot more than just good looks. It’s about taking care of yourself and making sure your skin continues to get the moisture it needs at any age. Beauty is also a ritual, so I pass on to my daughter how to like and care for herself.

You are now kinder to your skin than before. What do you mean?

This mainly means taking off my make-up when I get home. But also to drink enough and sleep more. I used to be someone who lit the candle from both ends. I traveled a lot and constantly had little sleep, which is the opposite for me today. I go to bed early and take more time for myself. A massage also works wonders.

How did your skin react to the new care routine?

She calmed down! It is incredibly important to me that my beauty products do not contain any harmful substances or additives that I don’t know about or can no longer read about. I found that so convincing. This also makes me much more relaxed because I realize that I don’t need as much as you always think.

Have you ever received a compliment about your skin?

Clear! I get the best compliments when I’m wearing make-up. The make-up artists particularly notice the condition of my skin and the fact that it has improved.

What three beauty products do you always have in your handbag?

A cream, a lip balm and deodorant papers to freshen up again on the plane.

About the balancing act between motherhood and career

You are also celebrated for your acting skills Hollywood star. What is the greatest perk of your VIP life?

I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of: I have the chance to see the world and live in many countries for a while. My job is also becoming more and more interesting. The older I get, the more I get character roles with depth.

Have you ever thought about what you would have wanted to do if acting hadn’t worked out?

I love to celebrate, but also to organize. Therefore, event management would certainly have been an option.

At events you can show off your beautiful looks. What do you pay attention to when choosing?

I always look for something very special because these events are usually associated with a special moment in life – an achievement that you celebrate. That’s why for me the looks have a different status that transcends fashion. For me they are sentimental. If the theme of the film is a bit darker, then I have a tendency to choose darker colors as well. I adapt the dress to the mood.

Her daughter Nova is now five years old. How do you balance job and family?

It is one Challenge for us women. I’m lucky that I don’t have to go to the office every day and I can also spend a lot of time with my family outside of my shoots.

You get a lot of support from your mother.

She is the best babysitter in the world. Without them nothing would work.

You spent the summer on Sylt. How did you like your North Sea holiday?

Very good, I’ve never been there before. I especially love German food. We were able to relax really well – despite the many tourists (laughs).
