Did Charles really want his mother to abdicate?

Long before the new episodes of The Crown are released on Netflix, the entourage of the former Prime Minister had reacted to this intrigue that they judge “wacky and misleading” : “It’s fiction, pure and simple. There was never any discussion between Sir John and the Prince of Wales over an abdication of Queen Elizabeth II. These scenes should not be viewed as anything other than harmful and malicious fiction.” Tony Blair, another former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom also implicated by the Netflix series, also expressed his anger. In one of the scenes, we discover Prince Charles initiating a secret meeting, with the objective of marrying Camilla. “As you’d expect, this is absolute rubbish”he said.
