Did robbers order a taxi? – Mysterious calls before the attack on Tiroler Trafik

The Tyrolean police are still looking for the unknown robber who attacked a tobacco shop in Jenbach (Schwaz district) on Friday evening. The man armed with a knife escaped with a low four-digit euro amount, the tobacconist was unharmed. Curious: the robber may have ordered a taxi to escape before the attack.

At around 6.30 p.m., the robber, masked with a respirator, entered the tobacco shop in Jenbach. He threatened the employee, who was alone in the tobacco shop, with a knife, took the cash and fled, immediately launching a large-scale manhunt for the perpetrator, who is said to be between 17 and 19 years old and about 180 centimeters tall. He is slim, has a light skin color and spoke German. Due to his accent, however, the police assume that he may come from ex-Yugoslavia. “The black hoodie that the young man wore is striking,” says Albert Maurer, head of the “robbery” investigation department at the State Criminal Police Office. “The garment has a light – possibly white – lettering on the upper side of both sleeves from the shoulder to the waistband.” In addition, the unknown perpetrator wore dark, possibly black pants, dark shoes and a cap. He also wore work gloves during the robbery: “Come to the foxhole – I’ll be there in ten minutes!” A mysterious connection with the robbery is the call from an unknown person on the hotline of a taxi company shortly before the robbery. “A stranger ordered a taxi to the car park at the HTL in Jenbach – not far from the crime scene,” says taxi chief Ali Ical. “I accepted the order, but only the police were waiting in front of the HTL.” While the executive was still questioning the taxi operator about the call, the phone of an Ical employee rang again. Again the same man was presumably on the other end of the line: “Now he wanted a taxi to go to the Fuchsloch in Jenbach. The man would be there in ten minutes, ”says Ical. The police then searched the area – also using sniffer dogs – to no avail. A call back on the number went unanswered. The investigators checked on Saturday whether the caller could be the perpetrator – initially without result. The unknown is still fleeting.
