Amazingly fit at the age of 88: Dieter Hallervorden reveals his secret recipe for vitality in old age in a new interview.

Love apparently keeps you young and fit as you get older: the actor Dieter Hallervorden (88) has talked about his very personal fountain of youth in an interview with the magazine “Gala”. His secret is his marriage to his wife Christiane Zander (58), who is 30 years his junior. “I believe that because of this woman I will live longer than originally intended. She takes care of me and is a source of joy in life,” said the cabaret artist. He also swears by an hour of exercise every day before breakfast.

He dreams of traveling to New Zealand together

A common passion that unites the couple: going on vacation. “The world is still so big, there is still so much to discover. I dream of a trip to New Zealand with my wife,” reveals the 88-year-old. They recently returned from a delayed honeymoon in Oman.

According to Hallervorden, the couple also spends around three weeks a year on their private island in Brittany. At the moment, however, a stay on “Costaérès” is a little more difficult than usual: “A storm seriously damaged the island,” said the 88-year-old. The island has belonged to the actor since 1988 and even has a small castle.

Hallervorden and the former stuntwoman Christiane Zander have been a couple since 2015 and have been married since 2022. This is the actor’s third marriage: his first wife was the actress Rotraud Schindler, with whom he has two children. His second marriage to Eleonore Blume lasted 25 years and they also have two children together.

In February 2023, in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”, he described his third wife as “a wonderful supplement to life”. Christiane gave his life a new impetus. In order to be able to enjoy life with her for many years to come, he dedicates an hour in the morning to his fitness in the form of “kicking on the ergometer” and “swimming against a strong counter-current system.”
