A 37-year-old freerider fell 50 meters into the steep rocky terrain on Saturday morning. The man could only be saved under difficult conditions.
The Viennese was part of a guided tour in the Sportgastein ski area. Because a rescue flight was not possible due to the weather, the mountain rescuers had to bring him to safety using pulleys and muscle power. The injured winter athlete was taken to the Schwarzach hospital.
