The delivery service is said to be developing a chatbot capable of suggesting the most suitable offers to its users after a short discussion.

What if programs such as ChatGPT were able to solve the thorny problem of choosing a restaurant on Uber Eats? They could quite be up to such a task, and thus save many TV evenings.

Recommendations based on food preferences and budget

A certain Steve Moser, an iOS developer accustomed to discovering hidden elements in the codes of applications, reported a new feature coming to Uber Eats. Indeed, the company is preparing a chatbot with a conversational AI capable of helping users place their orders.

By taking into account their budget and their preferences, it will offer recommendations that will help them find their way among the many offers that are multiplying on the platform. The ultimate goal is to speed up order taking and simplify navigation in the application.

This discovery is not so surprising. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi recently told Bloomberg that his teams were working on such a project. However, Moser confirms here that it will not be a simple evolution of the chatbot already used by the company to exchange more simply with its couriers, its drivers (whose recruitment conditions are currently changing) or its customer service. Not even with his robots.

A democratization that is not just for end users

We can never repeat it enough: conversational AI is appearing everywhere. Commercial platforms are gradually taking over these tools and integrating them as well as possible into their services. DoorDash, for example, recently announced the launch of its own service powered by the latest conversational AI technology, which will assist restaurants by automatically answering calls. Amazon, meanwhile, will soon integrate a new feature that will summarize product reviews by generating a short summary.

In France, Carrefour has already embarked on the adventure with a chatbot capable of suggesting products to its customers according to their household, their eating habits and their budget. The idea is obviously not bad, and it is undeniable that we are far from the negative aspects that regularly emerge from technology. It remains to be seen whether these will not simply be additional promotional tools to allow certain brands to subtly stand out, a bit like a new generation gondola end.
