Digimon Survive Revisits Reports and Provides More Content Details

Digimon Survive has not given any sign of life for a long time, except to announce its postponement to 2021. With the Digimon Con which took place this weekend, we finally have news on the title and some explanations concerning scheduling issues.

Digimon Survive Survival Despite Team Change

During a question and answer session with the producer of Digimon Survive, Kazumasa Habu, we learned a lot about the development as well as the universe of the game which will mix turn-based tactical combat, and Visual Novel. Regarding the reports, here is what he tells us:

“As we told you before, we postponed the release due to a change in development team, we are now developing the game with a new team. Switching teams caused a lot of changes around the game causing delays. This caused a lot of uncertainty, which prevented us from giving regular updates. However, thanks to the efforts of the new development team, we are now on the right track, and we are getting closer and closer to completing the game”.

Regarding the game itself, we learn that the story will be divided into 12 chapters including 8 chapters that can take 3 different routes (morality, harmony and rage). By reaching one of the three endings linked to these routes, a secret route is unlocked. As for the playing time, he tells us that a route can be finished in 40 hours while the entire software can be completed between 80 and 100 hours knowing that a New Game + will be part of it.

In all, we will find 113 Digimon that we can of course “digivolve” during the adventure. The fights seem fairly standard if you are familiar with Tactical RPG knowing that we can control 10 units on the battlefield. The story seems so much more intriguing since it will stand out from previous titles with a darker story :

“Also, since the target audience for this game is adult fans who are long-time gamers, the story is a bit darker. Since Digimon is portrayed as half of his inner self, there are dark expressions that are not common in conventional Digimon works, such as denying a Digimon by refusing to face oneself, or hurting a Digimon to transcribe self-mutilation.

Digimon Survive is expected for this year on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam.
