Moritz Bleibtreu, Kostja Ullman and many more: They take on the roles of Miss Sophie, butler James and co. in “Dinner for One”.
At the turn of the year 2022/23, UFA Fiction surprisingly announced the prequel to the New Year’s Eve hit “Dinner for One,” and now filming for “Dinner for Five” has begun. UFA announced this in a press release – and in the same breath named the actors of the prequel series.
Alicia von Rittberg (30, “Lotte am Bauhaus”) plays the young Miss Sophie, who famously celebrates her 90th birthday in “Dinner for One”. Her butler James, who is already loyal to her back then, is played by Kostja Ullmann (40).
Jacob Matschenz (40) plays Sir Toby, who sits to the left of Miss Sophie in the sketch and constantly wants more to be poured. Christoph Schechinger (38, “Käthe and I”) clicks his heels together as Admiral von Schneider. Moritz Bleibtreu (52) is Mr. Pommeroy, Frederick Lau (34) hands out compliments as Mr. Winterbottom.
“Dinner for Five”: This is what the “Dinner for One” prequel is about
The story “Dinner for Five” begins in England at the beginning of the 20th century. Miss Sophie is about to turn 40, so the series takes place 50 years before the sketch. Sophie is looking for a husband due to financial difficulties. She invites suitable candidates to her castle. One of the men is murdered there. Together with her butler, she encourages the survivors to compete for her favor. In doing so, she tries to unmask the murderer.
Filming has been underway in Berlin and Brandenburg since mid-May. The six episodes of the series, which UFA Fiction describes as a “romantic-comic and adventurous prequel,” are scheduled to air on Amazon Prime Video in 2025.
