Diplomatic Relations Season 2: Start

Netflix has not yet set an exact start date for the second season of “Diplomatic Relations”. So far all that is known is that the new episodes will be released in… 2024 should appear.

Diplomatic Relations Season 2: Trailer

A trailer for the second season of “Diplomatic Relations” has not yet been released. However, the first excerpts from the new season were shown during “Next on Netflix 2024”.

Diplomatic Relations Season 2: Plot

“Diplomatic Relations” is about US Ambassador Kate Wyler, who is transferred from Afghanistan to the British Embassy. Especially as an international crisis unfolds. Wyler’s job is to prevent World War III and ensure peace and order.

At the end of season 1 we learn that British Prime Minister Nicol Trowbride was behind the attack on the warship that triggered the crisis situation. Kate also reveals that the planned arrest of the Russian mercenary Roman Lenkov in Paris is intended to turn into a murder plot. The only one who benefits from this assassination is Trowbridge.

The final episode of season 1 ends, as the series began, with another explosion. This time triggered by a bomb attached to Deputy Merrit Grove’s vehicle. Stuart and Kate’s husband Hal were also in the car.

In the final scene of the series we see Kate find out about the attack on her husband. The content of the conversation is unknown, so we don’t know if there were any survivors. Who carried out the attack is still speculation at the moment, but that will be clarified in the coming second season. Trowbridge and his advisor Margaret Roylin are under suspicion.

Diplomatic Relations Season 2: Cast

For the second season of “Diplomatic Relations,” “The Americans” actress Keri Russell will once again take on the role of diplomat Kate Wyler. Rory Kinnear (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”) will probably again portray Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge.

It is currently unclear whether Rufus Sewell (“Kaleidoscope”) and Ato Essandoh (“Chicago Med”) will return as Hal Wyler and Stuart Heyford for the new episodes.

Further cast members for the second season of “Diplomatic Relations” have not yet been announced. After the attack on Representative Merrit Grove’s car, her life hangs in the balance. The alleged perpetrator behind this attack and Trowbridge supporter, Margaret Roylin, will probably appear again in the new episodes. She is played by Celia Imrie (“Better Things”).

Diplomatic Relations Season 2: Production

“Diplomatic Relations” is based on an idea by Deborah Cahn, who is known as a former producer and writer on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Homeland,” among other things. The first season was directed by Simon Cellan Jones (“Ballers”), Alex Graves (“Lost in Space”), Andrew Bernstein (“Jack Ryan”) and Liza Johnson (“The Last of Us”). The series is produced on behalf of Netflix.
