Only two and a half years old when he was last seen alive, little Emile has not given any sign of life since Saturday July 8, 2023. That day, the child was in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet in the company of his loved ones. He then unfortunately escaped the vigilance of his family at the end of the day. Alerted, the authorities quickly opened an investigation, while carrying out search operations to try to find the little boy. However, all the efforts made by the gendarmerie have led to nothing so far. As the investigation continues, a young farmer living nearby from the home of Emile’s family saw his house being searched by the gendarmes. Now singled out, the farmer recently received support on Facebook, as revealed by BFM DICI on Thursday February 1, 2024.
The young farmer accused was heard as a witness on several occasions
Indeed, a support page for the suspect was created on social networks. The person behind this initiative, who some imagine to be based in Vernet, publicly defended this young farmer. She considers in particular that it is “wrongly accused of having run over little Emile with his tractor”in one of the messages published on this famous Facebook page. This same person believes that the farmer is “unfairly accused and defamed by certain inhabitants of the village”. This initiative crystallized tensions within Vernet. Some people close to the young man do not at all appreciate the creation of this Facebook page, given that they had regained a certain serenity for several weeks. For their part, the gendarmerie was notified. “Judicially, it is difficult to do something. First of all, we must ask the social network to delete this page”indicated a judicial source cited by BFM DICI.
As a reminder, the young farmer involved was heard as a witness in the case of Emile’s disappearance on several occasions, before being searched in October 2023. However, he was never placed in custody. on sight nor indicted by the authorities in charge of the case, and therefore seems exonerated. Only 16 years old, this young man is referred to as a “crazy driver” by several residents of the region. In fact, he would have the habit of driving at high speed on his tractor. Furthermore, he would also have had an argument with Émile’s grandfather only a few hours before the child’s disappearance, on Saturday July 8, 2023. The young farmer is also known to the justice system for minor offenses, because he had already caused two accidents in 2021 and 2022. A couple from Haut-Vernet had also filed a complaint against him because of his dangerous driving with his tractor. In the eyes of some residents, it serves as a “ideal culprit” in this affair, in which no answer seems to be emerging. For her part, her mother had denounced the “human stupidity” following these unfounded accusations.
