He would be 9 years old today. Little Habib Nedder, kidnapped by his father on January 19, 2014 while he was on duty for the weekend, is still nowhere to be found. But justice is not giving up: investigators specializing in “cold cases” – these unsolved cases – began excavations on Tuesday June 14 at L’Hospitalet-Près-l’Andorre, in Ariège, in below a hydroelectric plant, revealed The Dispatch . It was not far from there that the headless body of Mehdi Nedder, the boy’s father, was found eight years ago.

At the time, the investigators had not accepted the thesis of an assassination: they favored the trail of the murder of the little boy followed by the suicide of the father. The body of the latter was decapitated while passing through the turbine of a dam.
But the boy’s mother, Jennifer Dana, does not believe this theory. For her, this is not consistent with what her ex-husband “wanted to leave him with his family“, she explains to The Dispatch. Especially since witnesses would have seen Habib’s father fighting not far from L’Hospitalet, according to the regional daily. The young woman therefore remains convinced that Habib is still alive and that he is probably in Algeria, where her former husband had family ties.
Despite the intimate conviction of the mother of the family, the excavations launched by the investigating judge have as their main objective the search for human bones, according to the local media. If this sector had already been combed through years ago, work to dry out this basin of nearly 3000m2 of water undertaken by EDF could allow investigators to carry out further investigations. A canine team from the Central Office for the Repression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP) was dispatched to the scene for this purpose.
