Thursday October 12, the lifeless body of a man was found in an abandoned farm in Corcelle-en-Beaujolais, in the Rhône department. The body, found hanged, was carrying a fanny pack containing the identity documents of actor Marwan Berreni.

Prosecutor Laetitia Francart published a press release via the AFTP specifying that a “an autopsy has been ordered. DNA samples must be taken (…) to allow the body to be identified.” The result of these examinations will take 3 to 15 days, said the prosecution (via BFMTV).

The 34-year-old actor, known for his role as Abdel Fedala in Plus belle la vie, has been missing since August 3.

That night, a Mercedes GLK entered the road at speed, hit Sandra, 37, stopped and started again, running over the young woman. On August 5, the police found the car involved, abandoned along the vineyards. Documents found inside the vehicle mention Marwan Berreni. In the past, the actor was fined for lack of insurance with this same vehicle. The actor cannot be reached on his cell phone and was absent when the police visited his home on August 8.

He has not been seen since the evening of August 3. The actor was to reprise his character in the new iteration of Plus belle la vie on TF1 in 2024. The scenarios for the return of the show, which were based on his character, were rewritten urgently.

His colleagues from Plus belle la vie began to pay tribute to him, like Stéphane Henon (the police officer Jean-Paul Boher in the series) and Jerome Bertin (Patrick Nebout from seasons 9 to 18) who published a black square on Instagram, or Sara Mortensen who also published a story on the social network.

If confirmation of the identity of the body by DNA analysis has yet to occur, Maître Rachel-Flore Pardo, the lawyer for the Berreni family, told Release the words of Mourad, Marwan’s father:

The door of hope closed, angry at having been left in total silence by the police and the courts.

Master Pardo added: “Faced with the terrible ordeal experienced by the parents of Marwan Berreni, we call for their pain to be respected and the privacy of their family preserved.”
