On March 8, 2024, products from the range will arrive in stores Universes Beyond of Magicin collaboration with the video game series fallout. Numerama being always at the forefront of the subject, we introduce you to one of the cards, a world exclusive.
It’s what fallout ?
A little reminder for the few at the bottom, stuck in a cave for more than 25 years. fallout is an iconic video game series, the first episode of which was released in 1997. The action takes place in the United States, in a postapocalyptic context, resulting from a global nuclear conflict. The first two episodes are pure RPGs, while the following ones lean more towards Action-RPGs.
The few survivors take refuge in fallout shelters, and must survive facing hostile flora and fauna, mutants, cyber defense organizations, or simply other survivors.
Although set in the 22nd century, the universe and its graphics are inspired by post-war America in the 1960s.
In addition to the six main episodes, the series had three spin-off episodes, including one which was adapted into a board game. A TV series is expected to arrive in April this year on Amazon Prime Video.
The “Universes Beyond” of Magic
After a first foray into the world of The Walking Deadin 2020, Wizards of the Coast announced new collaborations between Magicits flagship game, and various works of pop culture, through the series Universes Beyond .
Extensions Universes Beyondtake up the classic game mechanics of Magicbut themed around a work of pop culture (series, video game, etc.).
These are generally a few existing maps, re-illustrated according to the work selected (Stranger Things, Arcana, Street Fighter , FortniteOr transformers), or a complete and totally re)thematized extension (Warhammer 40.000 ). New collaborations have already been announced, around Final Fantasy And Assassin’s Creed (in 2024), and above all Marvel(in 2025).
At the beginning of March several products arrive in collaboration with fallout in the form of four decksprebuilt to play in format Order each focused on a distinct theme, and boosterscollector, in which you may have the chance to come across cards with illustrations and alternative treatments, linked to the universe of fallout . Including productions with the famous Vault Boy of the saga.

In partnership with Wizards of the Coast, the game’s publisher, Numerama reveals to you a preview, and a world exclusive, of a rare card from the deckpre-built Ave, Caesar.
It’s about Disciple of Killing , a red creature which has the particularity of having a brand new mechanic: Squad. It allows, by paying its cost (here one mana and the discard of a card, which is not trivial), to create as many tokens which are copies of the creature.
Note also that when the Disciple of Killingdies, it generates a token Bric-a-brac ideal for having more possibilities in decks aggressive.
Other mechanics, sticking perfectly to the postapocalyptic universe of falloutare also present, including a brand new one, based on radiation counters. We can’t wait to discover all this! In the meantime, you can make your mouth water with all the cards already revealed.
