Of the true wireless headphones which do not slip into our ear canals for more comfort… to the detriment of audio quality?

Failing to convince music lovers, bone conduction headphones have at least had the merit of moving the lines a little. Air conduction may well do the same.

Air conduction in question

If the Shokz OpenFit are among the best known models when it comes to evoking this air conduction, JBL does not intend – without pun intended – not to lose ground.

The IFA 2023 in Berlin will therefore have been the opportunity for the firm founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing to present its first attempt in this field, the true wireless headphones SoundGear Sens, the release of which is “immediate” for a price of 149, 99 euros, ie a good notch below the OpenFit model from Shokz. Note that for this price, we have the headphones of course, but also the neck strap, a specificity of the product.

JBL has effectively attempted to combine the two styles with a single product: lovers of “simple” earphones to be placed at ear level, but also those who prefer a neckband for greater stability, in particular when it is matter of playing sports.

Very stable “sporty” headphones

On paper, they are versatile. Indeed, the SoundGear Sense seem well equipped to provide quality sound. JBL insists in particular on the 16.2 mm speakers that equip each of the headphones.

Of course, the beast connects via Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio support and JBL insists on the presence of a ” bass enhancement algorithm “before underlining” powerful bass and pure sound to enjoy your favorite songs and the clarity of voices during your calls “. Of course, it’s the JBL OpenSound technology that makes these headphones so special.

JBL does not cut corners by specifying that they ” transform the listening experience and set the new benchmark for audio quality in this format “. Just that !

On the battery side, JBL has done what is necessary for the SoundGear Sense to be able to operate for 24 hours: 6 hours directly with the headphones and 18 hours more thanks to the supplied charging box. Finally, a quick charge of 15 minutes allows you to find 4 hours of autonomy.
