Disney+: 4 Pixar films will be released in cinemas in 2024 – and you already know 3 of them

DISNEY+

Disney’s release calendar for 2024 is extremely thin. To fill the gap, three Pixar films are now getting their big theatrical release from Disney+.

The corona pandemic was bad for cinemas, but excellent for streaming services. While some films like “Top Gun: Maverick” did well to simply wait for theaters to reopen, other titles simply skipped the theatrical release and ended up straight on stream.

This also applied to “Soul,” “Luca” and “Red,” three Pixar films that appeared exclusively on Disney+. Many families were grateful for this step, while the films’ production teams felt cheated out of the chance to see their work on the big screen.

Since Disney has only announced a handful of new films for 2024 due to stricter austerity measures and the long actors’ strike, the three Pixar titles from Disney+ will still have their chance in the cinema.

“Soul” will be released in cinemas in January 2024, followed by “Red” in February and “Luca” in March. So far, these releases, which serve Disney primarily as a cinema gap filler, have only been confirmed for the USA, but the family films could soon be seen in Germany as well as they should be seen: on the big screen.

On June 13, 2024, “Everything is Inside Out 2” will be released in German cinemas. Disney is no longer in such a hurry to release new films on Disney+. After all, you can earn a lot with a successful cinema release and you can’t run away from Disney+.
