Disney+ is coming to the Middle East, North Africa and soon to French Polynesia

BRIEF // Disney+ is still stepping on Netflix’s toes. The big-eared platform is setting up in some forty new territories, including 16 Arab countries, in a region where the red N dominates the market with 6.8 million subscribers.

Disney+ continues its expansion and advances on lands occupied by Netflix. Here he is packing his bags in 16 countries in the Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

In these two regions, SVoD is still very far from being the prerogative of the greatest number, but it is above all young viewers who are targeted. At the moment, Netflix dominates the market with 6.8 million subscribers, followed by StarzPlay (just under 2 million) and Prime Video (1.4 million). According to analysts, Disney+ could reach 6.5 million customers by 2027, compared to 11 million for N rouge and 4.8 million for Amazon.

Another salvo of new territories is scheduled for June 14. On this date, Disney+ will be available in French Polynesia, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and the Southern Territories, as well as in many European countries such as Croatia, Greece, Poland, Romania and Turkey. The arrival in Israel is scheduled for June 16.
