Disney+: Starting today, you can watch Eva Longoria’s biographical dramedy, Flamin’ Hot

Attention chips lovers! Disney+ is adding a special film to its schedule today. “Flamin’ Hot” is about the biography of a Mexican-American janitor who supposedly one day came up with the idea for the “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos” brand of chips. This became a bestseller across the United States.

The protagonist Richard Montanez (“Narcos: Mexico” star Jesse Garcia) grew up as a child of Mexican parents in the USA, where after his youth in a gang he eventually became a father who financed his family with a janitor job at the Frito-Lay company . But he wants more.

Sales of the company’s Cheetos brand of chips have been sluggish for a long time, and Richard considers what could change to encourage more people to buy the brand. Instead, he takes a rather unseasoned variety home and spices it up with Mexican spices. This is how the “Flamin’ Hot” variety is said to have originated.

He presents his idea to the company’s CEO, Roger Enrico (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actor Tony Shalhoub), who is enthusiastic about it. Soon the “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos” hit the market and are devoured by customers. But Richard does not receive a patent for his idea and sued against this decision in 2019.
