While Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly following the European elections on Sunday, government voter registration sites no longer work.
With the dissolution of the National Assembly, decreed by the President of the Republic this Sunday June 9, 2024, the French political world is experiencing one of its most important moments since the beginning of the 21th century. In the rush of a European deadline largely unfavorable to the presidential majority, legislative elections will take place at the end of the month. Many French people tried, without success this Sunday evening, to access the various voter registration sites.
The National Assembly dissolved by Emmanuel Macron
“ I dissolve the National Assembly “. With these words, spoken from the Élysée, Emmanuel Macron surprised some and provoked euphoria in others. Next Sunday, June 30 and July 7, new legislative elections will take place, following the dissolution of the institution installed at the Palais Bourbon.
This dissolution, which comes at a particularly stormy time, whether it concerns national politics or extreme geopolitical tensions, is already pushing the French to react, all with diverse motivations.
Government sites allowing you to register on the electoral lists are victims of their overcrowding
On Sunday evening, we noticed that there were obviously very many people trying to consult the various government internet pages having a link, directly or indirectly, with the elections and registration on the electoral rolls.
The service-public.fr platform, which is likely to be widely visited throughout the next three weeks, is therefore inaccessible. We can notably cite that which consists of registering on the electoral list in the event of moving.
This would not be a denial of service (DDoS) attack caused by cybercriminals. The difficulties of the government platform are the result of too much traffic, which the servers which host it have difficulty supporting. An overcrowding which immediately says a lot about the interest that the French will have in mobilizing in the coming weeks.
