DLC, LibertyV, what does the GTA 5 source code leak reveal?

A vast GTA 5 database has been revealed by a hacker. The files contain many projects abandoned by the Rockstar studio for its flagship title.

A hacker leaked the source code of GTA 5 on Christmas Eve. On a Telegram channel, links allow you to download the entire database of the latest Grand Theft Auto. Part of the files were shared from a channel already used for the Rockstar leak in September 2022, by the Lapsus$ group. The hacker also paid tribute to Arion Kurtaj, a young cybercriminal found guilty of this cyberattack against the famous video game studio:

#FreeArionKurtaj. He started all of this and made sure the leak became public. I have immense respect for him. I miss you, buddy.

New single player missions and expansions for GTA V

The files stolen by the hacker reveal a lot of information. Eight updates for single-player adventures were planned by Rockstar, probably canceled in favor of the online version of GTA.

The names of these single player packs are: Assassination Missions, Flight School Missions, Manhunt Pack, Norman Pack, Agent Trevor, Relationship Pack and Enterprise Pack.

The map notably had to extend to a cold region already known to GTA players, North Yankton. This new area was to be available for solo missions as well as for the online version.

Perhaps one of the biggest disappointments is not having seen the birth of LibertyV, the GTA 5 expansion project towards the city of Liberty. Inspired by the metropolis of New York, it was the scene of action for GTA III and GTA IV. The DLC is cited numerous times in the leak, confirming rumors of an aborted project. We’ll never see Trevor at the Empire State Building.

In addition to the GTA 5 source code, references to other canceled games such as Bully 2 and Midnight Club 5 can be found in the source code.

The scale of this hack is worrying for Rockstar. The revelation of this vast database a year after the cyberattack, and a few weeks after the leak of the GTA 6 trailer, places the company in an anxiety-provoking cyber environment.
