How does an eyelash lift work?

With an eyelash lift (also: eyelash lamination) the eyelashes are curved upwards in a beautiful sweep and then fixed. So we have the perfect look all day long – even without an eyelash curler or mascara.

In general, an eyelash lift has a similar effect to a perm: The eyelashes are attached to a so-called silicone pad. A chemical is then applied with a cotton swab, which provides the right momentum. This swing is then fixed with the help of a gel so that the eyelashes are a real eye-catcher for as long as possible!

Do your own eyelash lifting: It’s that easy

When we think of the perfect look, full and long eyelashes are simply part of it. Everything you need: a little time and a lash lifting kit – these are available from around 19 euros. The sets contain all the utensils you need if you want to do the eyelash lifting yourself. In addition, you usually only need a few cotton swabs or cotton pads and your classic facial cleanser.

Application: This is how the eyelash lift succeeds step by step

You want to do your eyelash lift yourself? No problem – we explain step by step how to do it:

1. Cleansing the eye area

Preparation is everything! You must free your hair of any fat before use. So first remove all make-up residues. Then clean your face with water and a mild cleansing lotion and then exceptionally refrain from applying lotion. Extra tip: The best way to cover the lower lashes is with an eye pad. This will prevent the upper and lower lashes from accidentally sticking together during treatment.

2. Glue into shape

In the second step you have to use the upper eyelashes silicone cushion adhere:

  1. Carefully place the silicone pad at the base of the lashes on the eyelid.
  2. Apply the glue to the silicone pad and let it dry briefly to fix the silicone pad properly. Press it slightly against the skin so that the eyelash glue adheres better.
  3. Using your fingers or an eyelash brush, gently bend the eyelashes upwards and hold them in this position for a moment until they stick to the silicone.

Tip: The silicone pads usually have different sizes. As a rule of thumb, the longer your lashes, the larger the corresponding pad needs to be.

3. Apply lotions

The sets for the lifting at home contain two different lotions, which you apply one after the other as soon as the eyelashes stick to the silicone pad. That is how it goes:

  1. First, apply the curl chemical to your lashes with a cotton swab. Leave this on for a few minutes. The gel ensures that the eyelash structure is dissolved and the eyelashes can be bent into the right shape.
  2. The fixing gel is then applied. This strengthens the new eyelash structure. The exposure time of both gels is about ten minutes.
  3. Then use a cleanser that is also included in the eyelash lifting set. Run it over your lashes to loosen them from the silicone.
  4. Finally, remove the eye pad.

Danger: Always read the instructions for use carefully before use and stick to the exposure time specified there. Sometimes it’s not exactly ten minutes, but a few more or less.

The general rule: Make sure that you really get all the lashes. Take your time and don’t skimp on the glue, as this step and precise work are crucial for good results and great lashes. And don’t forget the lower eye pad! This protects the skin under the eyes, which is particularly sensitive.

4. Coloring

Of course, this step no longer belongs directly to the lifting. However, it is advisable to dye the hairs immediately afterwards. Because their structure is now slightly roughened, which means that the color can penetrate better and last longer. Pro Tip: Uses a blue-black lash tint. This gives even more depth and ensures the ultimate wow effect!

Voila! You’ll have deep black, curved eyelashes in no time. Now all you have to do is ensure that your lashes do not come into contact with water for the next 24 hours. Then the lifting lasts longer and you can simply leave out mascara and eyelash curlers in the morning.

By the way: Although you can do the eyelash lift on your own, the application is much easier if you have someone help you. So grab your best friend and have a nice wellness and beauty day!
