According to the Institut Pasteur website, “Salmonellosis is a disease caused by enterobacteria of the Salmonella genus. Most Salmonella is harbored in the intestines of vertebrate animals and is most commonly transmitted to humans through contaminated food.” After which, they can cause food poisoning in humans.
