7% GPU load on RTX 4090 for 1080p
Today, the developers of VLC software indicate that the latest update of their tool – VLC 3.0.19 RTX Vetinari – is, as its name suggests, able to exploit NVIDIA technology.
3.0.19 RTX Vetinari is a new development branch for VLC to support RTX Video Super Resolution on locally stored videos. NVIDIA stresses that you must however have an RTX 3000 or RTX 4000 graphics card.
The website Videocardz ran some tests and report that on a GeForce RTX 4090, the GPU load jumps to around 7% when scaling 1080p video. Our colleagues note that the image quality is not ” as good as on the example above, but it varies depending on the bitrate and the definition of the source “.
