Do you have the TPM chip problem on Windows 11? Maybe it’ll be okay

The latest Windows 11 build emphasizes security, but also adds a new TPM troubleshooter. Installed in the Windows Security application, the latter fills a gap on the Microsoft OS.

What should you do if your TPM chip suddenly gives you problems? Obviously, Microsoft felt that Windows 11 did not offer enough help to its users in this case. The firm is therefore taking advantage of the deployment of the latest build 25905 on the Canary channel (accessible in particular to members of the Insider program) to deploy a new native troubleshooting utility.

A tool to pamper the TPM

Deployed in the Windows Security application, under the “Device Security” tab, this new security processor troubleshooting tool is available in addition to the “Clear TPM” function, already present with the previous build 25314. You can see below, on the left, the page displayed with the latter, and on the right, the page with the new TPM troubleshooter, added with the new build 25905.

As you can see in the example below right, captured by Neowin, an error message is displayed. The troubleshooter will suggest solutions to try in this case to try to resolve the error. However, these solutions are not yet deployed everywhere (they are not yet on the screenshot of Neowin), but they will be gradually.

What kind of failures for the TPM?

Dedicated to protecting the system against cybersecurity threats such as hacking, the TPM chip is however not infallible… hence the deployment of a troubleshooting tool dedicated to it. As specified Neowin, various flaws and bugs can affect the TPM chip. Recently, security researchers have for example discovered a vulnerability, dubbed “faulTPM”, which can in certain cases allow bypassing the fTPM on machines equipped with AMD Ryzen chips.

In terms of bugs, certain elements specific to Windows can also interfere with the proper functioning of a TPM chip. In particular, we know that Windows Defender bugs can lead Windows to not detect the TPM correctly. There are also TPM attestation bugs. These are the concerns, among others, that Microsoft wants to solve with its new convenience store.
