For several years now, manufacturers and operating system publishers have been offering gestural navigation systems. Apple was the first to draw with the iPhone X, launched at the end of 2017. Since then, it has become a standard on all of the manufacturer’s smartphones. Google did not take long to get started by offering, from Android 9 (in 2018), its own gestural navigation system for Android smartphones.

In the process, all the manufacturers have been there for their implementation, some offering a system of gestures similar to those of Google, others a different system and some still give the choice between the Google system and their own system.

Now, gesture navigation is often activated by default on commercially available Android smartphones. However, it is still possible to choose the more classic button navigation, with a bar with three icons offered at the bottom of the smartphone screen. Manufacturers even sometimes allow you to choose the layout of these three buttons. If the home key is always in the center, one can choose between the back button on the right or left and the multitasking button on the left or right.
