Jean-Claude is fired! Having become a has-been in the box transformed into a 2.0 company, his latest scheme gave management the perfect excuse to get rid of him. Charged by the management to make Jean-Claude clear off quickly and without a scene, Hervé will help him pack his boxes. In doing so, they will tear down their memories, mixing the great and the small history of the past 20 years. Over the course of these memories, Hervé and Jean-Claude will renew the bonds of a lost friendship.

Almost 20 years after the broadcast of the first episode, all the iconic actors of the M6 series have met in Caméra Café, 20 years already. Bruno Solo and Yvan Le Bolloc’h resume their respective roles of Hervé and Jean-Claude, and put on the director’s cap for the occasion. The original sketches were written by Alexandre and Jérôme Apergis, Frédéric Le Bolloc’h and Jordi Le Bolloc’h.
As for the actors, 14 recurring comedians are making a comeback, including Shirley Bousquet (Nancy), Gérard Chaillou (Jean-Guy), Jeanne Savary (Jeanne) and Armelle (Maéva). Newcomers will also come and give Hervé and Jean-Claude a hard time.
Comedian Waly Dia, whom we saw in Vise le Coeur and L’Ascension, will play a new employee of the company who will gradually climb the ladder, to the great misfortune of our two friends.
Although it’s been almost twenty years since Camera Café bowed out, after only 3 years on the air and 570 episodes broadcast, M6’s humorous patch still remains a cult series for an entire generation.
And after Espace Détente and Le Séminaire, released in theaters in 2005 and 2009 respectively, Yvan Le Bolloc’h and Bruno Solo have decided to do it again with Camera Café, 20 years already, a 90-minute TV movie that will allow viewers to M6 to find the series that punctuated their evenings between 2001 and 2004.
For the occasion, all the emblematic characters of Camera Café are gathered to return to the events that have marked France and the world over the past 20 years, from the stock market crash of 2008 to the fire of Notre-Dame de Paris in 2019. , through marriage for all, the #Metoo movement or the death of Johnny Hallyday.
So many topics that fueled the conversations of the two colleagues in front of their coffee machine. The narration of Caméra Café, 20 years already alternates between the present, in which Jean-Claude bids farewell to his colleagues, filmed in a standard hand-held camera fashion, and the past, in the form of a flashback, which finds the point of iconic view of the camera in the coffee machine.
Through its clever screenplay, 20-year-old Camera Café contrasts the character of Jean-Claude, an old-school “boomer”, with the vision of the new generation of companies. The “Start-up nation”, with its Franglais and its progressive ideas, is a thousand miles from the vision of the work of the fifty-year-old. And if he has trouble adapting, Hervé tries to deceive him, without success.
It is in this generational opposition that the TV movie finds its best jokes. Because yes, if we are pleased to find all the characters of Camera Café and to see these two somewhat clumsy and misogynistic colleagues having to face the evolution of society which no longer tolerates their behavior bordering on sexual harassment, we still had a hard time laughing at the jokes already seen and reviewed. The scenario does not fly high, but it should undoubtedly please the fans of the first hour, who have waited for this reunion for years.
