Season 12 of Kolossium will end on tuesday January 18 with weekly maintenance of Dofus. It will be immediately followed by the season 13 for a period of three months. The leagues as well as your rating will be reset, so it’s a new start to conquer the Ladder! Before that, it will of course be necessary to go through the placement matches, at a rate of 5 matches for 1v1 and 10 for 3v3.
That being said, it seems that this announcement of a season 13 without further promise of changes is not to the taste of all players, who have been waiting for the Kolossium to evolve for a long time.
Player expectations
Last July, Ankama proposed a survey to determine what were the main motivations of players to register in Kolossium. Here are the results :
It is therefore mainly the interest financial which takes precedence. It is true that the economy of Dofus is sometimes complicated to grasp and that the rewards of Kolossium allow you to bail out your bank without having to think about tricks worthy of Wall Street traders.
We find in second interest the aspect competitive, the fact of being able to confront other players but above all to be able to place oneself in relation to them, to show who is the strongest!
To sum up, according to the players, a good Kolossium :
- Bring back mountains of kamas
- Allows you to stand out
We therefore want rewards that relate, and securities and ornaments exclusives that prove our worth in battle.
So if we have that, the pvp is perfect ? No, obviously. Many players have stopped this facet of the game for two main reasons:
- L’class and equipment balancing doesn’t allow for a healthy meta in which everyone can fit in
- The toxicity and the abuse are ubiquitous
Indeed, not all classes are equal and it can quickly be frustrating to see that we will not be able to do pvp without having a character dedicated to Kolossium. Then, once we’ve taken the time to build a character optimized for competitive play, we quickly fall from the top when we realize that our opponents are unpleasant at best, anti-game at worst, with the practice of “farm koli“which consists of regularly losing matches to keep a low rating and face novice players on a loop.
Developments planned by Ankama
As for the Lille studio, three areas for improvement are planned:
- Improve the quantity and the quality proposed matches
- Keep the rewards value achieved by limiting breeding through abusive practices
- Detect and sanction toxic behaviors that ruin the gaming experience
For the moment, it is especially on the last point thatAnkama has worked, in particular thanks to the appearance of new rules:
With regard to the first point, we can say that the work is in progress, even if it is laborious. Indeed, Ankama evolves thebalancing ongoing classes and equipment, for better and for worse, yes, but at the very least they try. Same for the matchmaking, the latter still poses problems today but little by little changes are being introduced to try to take it in a better direction.
It is rather on thefinancial aspect, so the most important thing for players, that the Kolossium still fishing today. If no major development has been announced at this level for the Season 13, we are still entitled to hope that new information will be communicated on this subject following the launch of the season.
After all, in “Ankama“, There are “Kama“…
