DOFUS: Alliances separated from guilds with the AvA overhaul

After so many years, the redesign of the Alliance against Alliance finally lands in Dofus. The Game Design team details their goals for the game’s long-neglected core social feature.

This update will only be available with 2.67, at the beginning of 2023. 2.66 will arrive in December with the Forgellances.

DOFUS: Alliances separated from guilds with the AvA overhaul

Since 2015, the overhaul of Alliance against Alliance has been a running gag for Ankama teams. It’s a veritable pet peeve of anti-fun on Dofus, a sign of numerous abuses. Mafia systems have even developed there beyond simple necrosis. A big balancing pass was inevitable even if it was very long in coming. Already during the Krosmonote 2019the AvA was presented as a topical subject, very hot and to be redone imperatively for 2020.

After some setbacks, the revision of this now sprawling system materialized. It is no longer linked to guilds, only concerns characters of level 50 at least and in groups of 200 maximum. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
First of all : The AvA revamp will only be available for the first update of 2023. There will be nothing at the end of 2022.

Capture of Territory on Dofus with the AvA revamp

On this point, the gameplay does not really change. Territories always offer bonuses, recycling only; gains in PvM combat in the area being removed. However, many modifications apply to the coating. For example, it is no longer possible to sabotage or set schedules of vulnerabilities. When a prism is destroyed, you go directly to King Of The Hill or Koth. For Temporis and new servers, territories without an Alliance will now also trigger a conquest battle.

Large crystals also have a durability, which is reduced over recycling (we’ll talk about it later). Attacks do not reduce a prism’s durability, and the Alliance cannot repair them.

Collectors 2.0

Between revamping their appearance, their spells, and even their gameplay, the Perceptors are a big chunk of the AvA revamp. In order to honor them – and above all to reduce the size of an article that is already too big, you can find all the information by clicking on the image below.

Recycling and Nuggets

The key modification to remember here is quite simply the opening up of the system to all. Any character of minimum level 50 will now be able to recycle on a prism, with a loss of course. It is no longer necessary to add a module. You can always do this to increase the ration of nuggets to your advantage if you are part of the alliance in question. There are also bonuses if the resources come from the captured territory and even a new generation on adjacent areas in order to create combos.

Redesign of the Alliance interface on Dofus

To continue on the small green fragments, the nuggets will no longer be obtained in PvM combat after the KOTH phase. Instead, the Alliance will collect them from a Pool available in the player list interface. A new rank will manage the distribution, enough to create many dramas.

Finally, the gains themselves are altered. In any case, a winning or losing alliance will have its little prize:

10% lostWinning Defenders
75% of prism
——–
15% for attackers
Winning forwards
75% of prism
——–
15% for defenders
Distribution of nuggets after a Koth

Update on the Modules

Despite the opening of recycling, you will still be able to use recycling and teleportation modules. However, it will only be possible to equip one at a time. The Dofus team thus imposes a choice between gaining a point to move, or increasing the generation of nuggets.

The new prisms

You will notice by being careful a second box on the previous image. It is dedicated to two new consumables, the Inhibitor and Protector Crystals, allowing to act on the vulnerability of the prisms. One prevents players outside the alliance from recycling and the other prevents attacks, for a limited time. However, it will only be possible to use 4 crystals per life cycle of the Prism.

Excerpt from the official Dofus article on the AvA redesign

King of the Hill stage

No change for the moment on the format of the “interactive” phase. Alliances will still have to compete for 30 minutes earning points. New rules are added however, concerning in particular the methods of gains, and losses, of points. For example, a PvP victory will now earn points and the prism will become an important capture point, providing rewards at regular intervals.

Obviously, new roles are in the game, based in particular on the new mechanics of gains by PvP in combat.

The end of conquest villages on Dofus

This was to be expected following Pandala updates; Conquest Villages are all gone! Everyone will be able to walk around freely and collect the various resources. However, there will remain two exceptions with the Brigandins and the Wabbit Laboratories, offering specific means of transport. Everything else will become completely classic territories. We can cite among others:

  • The Village of the Kanigs with its mine
  • Dimension zones, including Fort Thune
  • The Dopple Territory, sometimes including the Dopple Dark Vlad

Conclusion around the redesign of the Alliances

The Dofus team seems to be deploying a good big quantitative overhaul, but which retains a few weaknesses. These were very quickly noted and pointed out by the players, such as the transition from 5v5 to 4.5v5. Do not hesitate to give your feedback on the forum to improve the functionality, Alliances against Alliances not being on the program before the beginning of 2023!
