Dolby exclusively unveils Atmos FlexConnect for TCL TVs

In order to facilitate individuals’ access to immersive Dolby Atmos sound, the American company Dolby Laboratories has developed a new technology called Atmos FlexConnect. The latter aims to combine the speakers of a television with several compatible wireless speakers, regardless of their layout in the room.

It’s up to the sound to adapt to the viewer

Aware that it is not always easy to install its speakers and satellites ideally to take advantage of Dolby Atmos, the company is changing its tune. According to John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, “consumers shouldn’t have to move their furniture to get better sound, rather the sound should adapt to them”.

Dolby wants to offer great freedom to install and add accessories to its television in order to improve immersion and sound quality. Thus, the compatible television uses its microphones to locate and distribute the sound intelligently between each wireless speaker in the room.

TV manufacturers, like TCL, will be able to use this technology to allow the user to position one or more speakers anywhere in the room to offer an immersive rendering regardless of the layout of the furniture and the TV. .

Dolby and TCL will jointly showcase Atmos FlexConnect technology, along with the series of compatible TVs, at IFA 2023 in Berlin.
