Doliprane 500 is an analgesic dosed with 500 mg of paracetamol. This dosage is particularly indicated in children weighing more than 27 kg. The dosage must be scrupulously followed in order to avoid any adverse effects, particularly hepatic ones.

1. What is Doliprane 500?

Doliprane 500 is a medical specialty containing paracetamol dosed at 500 mg. There are many presentations of Doliprane 500: it can exist in the form of capsule, tablets or effervescent tablets. There are also different dosages of Doliprane, which are suitable for all ages. Doliprane is an analgesic medication that helps fight fever and low to moderate pain. This is a medication sold without a prescription which can therefore be used for self-medication.

2. At what age can you take Doliprane 500?

The use of Doliprane 500 depends on the child’s weight. The Public Medicines Database specifies that Doliprane 500 is a medicine reserved for children weighing more than 27 kg. This weight is approximately reached at the age of 8, but this data is only indicative. Depending on the build of the children, the age at which 27 kg is reached may vary. It is therefore important to rely mainly on the weight of the child in order to know if Doliprane dosed at 500 mg can be used. If the child’s weight is less than 27 kg, a lower dosage will need to be used. The Doliprane 500 can be used from 27 kg and up to 50 kg; beyond this weight, another dosage may possibly be used to relieve pain or fever. 3. What is the daily dose of Doliprane 500?

Doliprane 500 is an effective medication which must be taken in accordance with the dosage prescribed by a healthcare professional or indicated on the medication leaflet. Doliprane 500 can be taken 4 to 6 times a day, which is equivalent to 15 mg/kg per dose every 6 hours or 10 mg/kg per dose every 4 hours. The transparency commission of the High Authority of Health (HAS) specifies that Doliprane 500 can be administered to children whose weight is between 27 kg and 40 kg, 4 times a day at a rate of one tablet every 6 hours. In children weighing 41 to 50 kg, one tablet can be taken every 4 hours. These time intervals must be respected even at night in order to optimize the effectiveness of the painkiller. The maximum dose in children is 60 mg/kg per day, as specified by the National College of Medical Pharmacology. Beyond this dose, there is a risk of deterioration of liver function. It should be noted that for children whose weight is greater than 50 kg, the dosage may be re-evaluated.
