Donald Glover in Atlanta: Surreal Season 3 trailer dropped

Season 3 of Atlanta, the brilliant and completely crazy creation of Donald Glover, arrives in March across the Atlantic. And the trailer is heavy.

After four years of hiatus, it’s the unexpected little Christmas present that fell over the weekend. The FX channel has unveiled a first trailer for the long-awaited season 3 of Atlanta, where we discover the protagonists in Europe.

The series follows the quartet Earn (Donald Glover), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), Alfred aka rapper Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) and Van (Zazie Beetz), each episode showing a hilarious and absurd slice of life in the eponymous town where they live.

This new season will be broadcast from March 24 on the American channel which at the same time unveils the synopsis: “Taking place almost entirely in Europe, Season 3 finds Earn, Alfred, Darius and Van in the middle of a European tour, as the group navigate this new environment as outsiders and struggle to adapt to the new success to which he aspired.

Commissioned in 2018 by FX, this season 3 has been slow to come. The initial delay was due to the busy schedule of Donald Glover who released his fourth studio album in 2020 under his stage name Childish Gambino, wrote, produced and starred in the film Guava Island (2019) with Rihanna and a lent his voice to Simba in Jon Favreau’s remake of The Lion King.

Then there were additional delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but these allowed Glover and his writers to write the scripts not only for the third season, but the fourth as well. Production of the two new chapters began earlier this year in Europe in London, Paris and Amsterdam.

Season 2 of the series garnered 14 Emmy nominations, a record for a comedy, and won three awards. Donald Glover was previously presented with the award for Best Leading Actor in a Comedy Series for the first season.

And since that hiatus, the notoriety of the entire cast of the series has skyrocketed. We have seen this year in particular LaKeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz in The Harder They Fall on Netflix and Brian Tyree Henry in The Eternals.

OCS will broadcast well this season 3 but on a date as yet unknown.
