In 2020, current US President Joe Biden called Donald Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani a “Russian peasant”. Pawn was not meant in the agricultural sense, but rather a reference to the chess piece. Because of this designation, Giuliani filed a civil lawsuit, as he announced at a press conference in the US state of New Hampshire.
What he did to me is unbearable.
The lawyer claims to have lost clients as a result of Biden’s statement, and he also gives an insight into his emotional state: “What he did to me is unbearable.” US presidents generally enjoy extensive immunity for their actions in office and generally do not have to be held civilly liable for them. But things are different for actions that have nothing to do with the presidency.
Lawsuits also against Giuliani
Hunter Biden, the son of the US President, filed a lawsuit against Giuliani just over a week ago. Giuliani wrongfully gained access to Hunter Biden’s laptop. But Rudy Giuliani was not only civilly sued by Hunter Biden. Like Donald Trump, he was criminally charged with attempted election fraud in the state of Georgia.
