Apple’s Vision Pro is a premium headset, but despite its hefty $3,499 price tag, the headset lacks one of Apple’s most iconic features: Find My location tracking.
Find My is a feature that allows users to locate their Apple devices, such as iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, and AirTags, using the Find My app on another Apple device or on iCloud.com. Users can also play a sound, activate Lost Mode, or remotely wipe their devices if they are lost or stolen. The Find My app also enables Activation Lock, which prevents anyone from wiping or setting up the device without the owner’s Apple ID and password.
While this feature may seem essential on all products, Apple has confirmed in a new support document that the Vision Pro does not support Find My geolocation. The only Find My feature supported by the Vision Pro is Activation Lock, which means a thief can’t use the headset with their own Apple ID. However, the owner cannot see the location of the headset, play a sound, activate Lost Mode or erase it remotely.

Find My is not available on the Apple Vision Pro
This is a significant inconvenience for a device that costs $3,499 and can be easily misplaced or stolen. Unlike the iPhone, Vision Pro is not covered by the AppleCare+ theft and loss program, so the owner may be out of luck if he loses his helmet. Apple doesn’t explain why the Vision Pro doesn’t have the Find My location feature, but it could be related to the fact that the headset doesn’t have a built-in battery or GPS.
Although the Vision Pro is primarily designed for use at home as an entertainment device, Apple also encourages users to use it on the go, such as on a plane or in a hotel. The headset could be very attractive to thieves, given its high price and advanced technology.
One way to locate the Vision Pro is to use an AirTag, a small tracker that can be attached to any object and located using the Find My app. Users can purchase Apple’s travel case for the Vision Pro and place an AirTag inside, or wait for third-party accessory makers to offer solutions to attach an AirTag directly to their headset.
