The state of Styria is well prepared for an upcoming wave of the Omikron variant. Harald Eitner, who is responsible for disaster control, among other things, reports that companies are already preparing to minimize contagions in their operations in order to guarantee security of supply. At Energie Steiermark there are even plans to “isolate a team for monitoring the power grids directly in the company.” According to vaccination coordinator Koren, there is concern in hospitals that not all intensive care beds can be looked after by staff in quarantine. Since Omikron is difficult to assess, he welcomes the requirements for New Year’s Eve.
