Doogee U10 review: You can buy four for the price of an iPad (and they’re great Android tablets)

Here’s the great thing about devices running Android: the myriad of manufacturers competing with each other makes for incredible deals. While the price of an iPad currently starts at €440, you can get Android tablets for a much lower price.

Take in particular this Doogee U10 tablet, currently on sale for €110.

The key points of the Doogee U10 tablet

  • A good tablet, solid and fast, running Android 13, perfect for browsing the web, watching videos, listening to music and even working.
  • The screen is a little dim for use in direct sunlight, and the speakers are a little weak.

What you can buy these days for €120 amazes me.

A 10-1 inch screen, 4GB of dedicated RAM, 128GB of storage, decent front and rear lenses, and a big battery make this a tablet that just a few years ago would have cost a lot of money. In any case, this type of specifications is more than enough for many people.

I’m a big fan of Doogee, and this tablet does not disappoint.

I’m not going to try to convince you that the Doogee U10 is the best tablet you can buy. This is not the case. Instead, I invite you to think about what you want from a tablet or what you need.

  • A decent screen, perfect for indoor use and equipped with an anti-blue light filter?
  • A processor powerful enough for the Android operating system and applications to run smoothly?
  • Sufficient RAM and storage space to satisfy the average user?
  • A battery powerful enough to allow you to watch a good six hours of video?
  • A 3.5mm headphone port that lets you still use your favorite wired headphones?

Well, that’s all the U10 gives you.

The cameras (8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front) are perfect for selfies, social media photography, video conferencing, and even taking photos in the field. Of course, if you’re used to photo shooting with the iPhone, iPad, or a high-end Android smartphone, you’ll be disappointed, but if you just want a tablet with a decent camera, this should suit you.

A protective silicone case included

In the box there is even a protective silicone case and a charger for the tablet. All for €110.

Is the U10 perfect? No.

The screen is perfect for indoor use, but I find it a little weak for outdoor use in direct sunlight. If you want a tablet screen that’s nice to look at in the summer sun, you’ll need to spend more money on a device like the iPad, which has a high-pixel density Retina display that’s 60% brighter than the U10 screen.

The speakers are also a bit weak, especially for music or movies with overdriven bass, but I compare that to my iPhone and iPad Pro. For €110, these are excellent speakers.

And for this price, I can’t really find any fault with this tablet. If you want better, the problem isn’t the tablet, but how much you’re willing to spend.

ZDNET Buying Tips for Doogee U10 Tablet

While you shouldn’t expect a $110 tablet to blow your mind, most people don’t use their tablet to run heavy hardware-intensive work that requires jaw-dropping performance. To be frank, 95% of the time my M2-powered iPad Pro is used for watching YouTube videos or typing, and all that power I paid for is wasted. I only really use the power of this tablet for editing my drone videos.

The Doogee U10 is a great choice if you want a tablet for basic daily tasks, perhaps a “living room tablet”, a cheap tablet for work or school, a tablet for the workshop, a tablet to take on a trip or camping trip. You can buy almost four Doogee U10s for the price of a single iPad. It’s a great way to equip yourself and others with a quality, versatile tablet without breaking the bank.
