A single mobile
It’s hard to find anything interesting to say about today’s smartphones. They are all black slabs covered in glass and plastic, they all look the same, function the same and display more or less the same performance. That’s why it’s refreshing to see something different coming to market.

5G and mobile networks
First, 5G. The V30 supports the N1/3/7/28/38/41/77/78/et 79 bands, which offers almost complete compatibility (the 800 MHz band is just missing in France). I tested it on a few 5G networks in the UK and had no issues.
As for the SIM drawer, it can accommodate two physical nano-SIM cards (or a nano-SIM card and a TF card). The mobile can also register up to four eSIM cards. Please note that when you use an eSIM, you are limited to one physical SIM card.
eSIM support is for over 200 carriers worldwide, and again, it’s very easy to use. No complex handling to do, everything works without worries.

Picture quality
I tested the cameras and they are good. Not as good as what flagship smartphones from Apple or Samsung can offer, but still excellent. If you want to capture photos for social media or to document jobs, the V30 will more than deliver.
The night vision module is a bit of a gimmick and I would have preferred to have a thermal camera. But if you want to see in the dark, you can. Unfortunately, looking at an ultra-bright screen in the dark prevents visual adaptation and blinds everyone.

I wish manufacturers that use this feature would offer a “night mode” that dims the brightness, that would make this feature much more useful.
Performance and software
The performance of the octa-core processor is good and the software experience is smooth and without hitches. The 120Hz screen allows for comfortable image fluidity and the use of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 means the mobile can withstand a lot of knocks.

Design and construction
Finally, to top it off, the V30 is also stylish.
Yes, this huge beast (8.31 x 1.83 x 17.84 cm for 370 grams on the scale) which can operate without problem at temperatures ranging from -55°C to +70°C, which is waterproof, resistant dustproof, shockproof, immersion up to 1.2 meters for 30 minutes and drop resistant up to 2 meters, is elegant.
The colors, the “ecological” faux leather side, the finishes, everything is successful.

Selling at 549.99 euros, the V30 isn’t cheap, but it packs a lot of features (like 5G and eSIM compatibility) and packs it all into a sleek package with impeccable battery life and solid performance.
