Doubs Narumi case: Nicolas Zepeda will be retried in 2023

Nicolas Zepeda, who appealed last April against his sentence by the French courts to 28 years in prison for the assassination of his Japanese ex-girlfriend Narumi Kurosaki, will be retried next year.

The Chilean, who denies having killed the young student, should be retried “in the first half of 2023”, said the Besançon prosecutor’s office. He will appear before “the Assize Court of Haute-Saône”, in Vesoul, he specified.

This jurisdiction had already been the scene at the end of 2020 of an extremely high-profile trial, that of Jonathann Daval, of which a series, shot in the Lyon region, will soon retrace the contours.

He always denies

Tried for two weeks at the end of March and beginning of April before the assizes of Doubs, Nicolas Zepeda, 31, was sentenced on April 12 to 28 years in prison for the assassination of Narumi in December 2016 in Besançon, where the young woman from 21 years old was studying. His body has never been found.

Nicolas Zepeda, against whom life imprisonment had been requested, continued throughout his trial to proclaim his innocence, despite numerous incriminating elements. He had been extradited in the summer of 2020 by Chile to be tried in France.
