The next Dragon Age game is not called Dragon Age 4, but Dreadwolf. Developer BioWare has now officially announced this and at the same time confirmed that the sequel will not be released this year.

Dreadwolf will be the villain in the next Dragon Age
BioWare has been working on another part of the Dragon Age series for several years, which is now officially called Dreadwolf. The developer studio also confirms this the villains for the upcoming adventure: Solas, the Dread Wolf or Dread Wolf – also known as Fen’Harel.
As early as 2018, BioWare hinted at Dread Wolf with a first short teaser; but now it is certain what role he will play in the sequel of the same name. Anyone who has played Dragon Age: Inquisition should already be familiar with the legend of the dire wolf.
In the current announcement, BioWare writes:
“Some say he might be an ancient elf god, some say the opposite. Others say he is a traitor to his people…or a savior who now wants to save them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as a trickster god – a player of dark and dangerous games.” (Source: BioWare)
But new players can breathe easy because BioWare also writes:
“If you’re new to Dragon Age, don’t worry that you haven’t met our antagonist. He will introduce himself when the time is right.”
Fears come true: New Dragon Age will come in 2023 at the earliest
Along with the fresh title, BioWare also revealed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf out this year will appear. That’s what industry insider Jeff Grubb said a few months ago; now it’s official.
There is no exact date. Grubb expected publication at the end of 2023 at the earliest. If that also turns out to be true, fans will probably have to put up with a lot of waiting time.
BioWare plans to release more information at a later date, but later this year. And then there’s maybe even the first gameplay trailer to see.
