The second trailer for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero has just been released by Bandai Namco. The heir of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will it live up to its predecessor?
As promised by Bandai Namco, the publisher took advantage of the Games Battle Hour to share the brand new trailer for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero. Teased in March 2023, then made official last December during the Game Awards, the title had until then been a perfect continuation of the trilogy started on PlayStation 2. Is this still the case?
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero : Goku and Vegeta in the spotlight in the new trailer
This new trailer focuses on the two most emblematic characters of the work imagined by Akira Toriyama: Son Goku and Vegeta. The two Saiyans confront each other throughout the arcs and thus carry out transformations, thus reassuring fans from the beginning. In fact, the license Budokai Tenkaichi (Sparkling! in Japan) was mainly appreciated for its Dantesque fights and epic transformations.
This new opus also promises to impress with the big return of giant gorilla transformations, or the arrival of the forms introduced in Dragon Ball Super, including Super Saiyan Blue.
You will have understood, beyond the confrontation between Son Goku and Vegeta, this new trailer above all gives pride of place to one of the key elements of the series of Sparkling! : transformations. But what about the number of playable characters, another flagship segment of the franchise?
A number of historical characters and transformations?
On its official website, Bandai Namco revealed the list of the first 24 confirmed characters (including the different forms of Goku and Vegeta), to which are added the characters already seen in the first trailer: Krillin, Tenshinhan, Yamcha, Piccolo , Mister Satan, Trunks (adult), C-17, C-18, Cell, Frieza, Majin Boo, Jiren, Bergamo and Broly (DBS).
The most attentive among you will certainly have noticed that the new trailer already offers an overview of the roster of DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero. The grid below allows us to count no less than 164 locations, which is rather reassuring regarding the number of characters present in the base game (excluding DLC).
To compare, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 offered 97 playable characters for a total of 161 forms. However, you will still have to be patient before you can hope to lay your hands on DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zerothe release date has still not been revealed.
As a reminder, the title is developed under Unreal Engine 5 and is expected on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
