Drama at the Wilder Kaiser – Wanderer fell to his death before the eyes of the woman

Tragic accident on Wednesday afternoon in the municipality of St. Johann in Tirol. An 80-year-old Austrian fell about 50 meters through rocky terrain in the area of ​​the “thief ovens”. Unfortunately, any help came too late for him.

The 80-year-old Austrian and his 71-year-old wife set out shortly after 9 a.m. from the hiking car park in the Römerhof area to the Granderalm in St. Johann, which is not serviced. They climbed up a marked hiking trail. At around 4:30 p.m., they made their way back down the valley by the same route. Crashed over steep terrain Shortly before 5 p.m., the man stepped over the right edge of the path in the area of ​​the “thief ovens” and fell down. He overturned and fell over rocky terrain interspersed with tree stumps. “The 71-year-old immediately climbed down to the casualty, provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion,” says the police. For the man, however, any help came too late. The rescue workers could only save him dead.
