Accident tragedy on Monday evening on Seefelder Strasse near Zirl in Tyrol: A local driver did not survive the massive collision with a truck, he died at the scene of the accident.
The tragedy happened around 3.30 p.m. on Seefelder Strasse, in the rather flat area before the ascent to Zirler Berg. According to initial investigations, the driver of the station wagon crashed into the truck from Bavaria, which was traveling in the direction of Innsbruck, for reasons that are still unclear. The car was completely deformed and thrown over the embankment. “The driver was trapped in the wreck,” the police said. Despite a rapid rescue operation, any help came too late for the 76-year-old. The truck was also badly damaged, but it was not yet clear whether the driver was injured. The main road had to be closed until around 8.30 p.m. for the duration of the clean-up work.
