On Boxing Day, “Tatort” once again competed against “Das Traumschiff”. “Loss of control” prevailed in the ratings.

On Boxing Day (December 26th) the “Tatort” (the first) once again maintained its top position in the ratings comparison. 5.04 million viewers tuned in for the episode “Loss of Control” from Frankfurt am Main, which corresponded to a market share of 18.7 percent of the total audience. The Munich Christmas edition “Murder Under Mistletoe” was seen by just over four million crime fans last year.

“Dream ship” with “all-time low”

At the same time, the ZDF series “Das Traumschiff-Utah”, which was broadcast in parallel, suffered a sharp decline in ratings. “DWDL” even calls it an “all-time low”. Accordingly, the reach fell below the five million mark for the first time since the pilot episode in 1981. An average of 4.68 million viewers tuned in, ensuring a market share of 17.4 percent. Last year there were over a million more viewers sitting in front of the screens.

After all, “The Dream Ship” won the market share among 14 to 49 year olds. At 14.5 percent, this was surprisingly higher than for “Tatort” with 10.6 percent.

Next duel in a few days

The next duel between the two television dinosaurs is scheduled for New Year’s Day 2024. “Tatort: What Remains” – the last edition with Commissioner Julia Grosz (Franziska Weisz, 43) from Hamburg – will be broadcast on the first. At the same time, “Das Traumschiff: Nusantara” is being shown on ZDF in prime time with a special feature in the cast: the married couple Amira (31) and Oliver Pocher (45) were in front of the camera for the episode from Southeast Asia.
