Dreame is experiencing strong growth and has risen to second place on the French robot vacuum cleaner market. The Chinese brand continues its development by expanding its catalog, including in new sectors such as robot lawn mowers. The first model of this new family officially arrives on the French market. This is the A1, which is intended for lawns of 1000 m² or more with a 24-hour Efficiency mode, which would allow 2000 m² to be treated. It may seem incongruous, but there is a lot of common technology between robot lawn mowers and robot vacuum cleaners.

A lidar sensor for navigation

Installation is extremely simple since it does not require the installation of cables other than the power supply, or virtual barriers. For this, the Dreame A1 mower draws on the experience acquired by the brand with its robot vacuum cleaners, particularly with regard to navigation. Named 3D Omnisense, it essentially uses a laser radar (lidar) with a range of 70 m with an omnidirectional angle of 360° horizontally and 59° vertically. It can detect obstacles of more than 10 mm at a distance of 40 m, adding to this a dose of AI to avoid objects and animals even more effectively. The robot lawn mower will be able to establish a precise map of its environment.

The device can even detect rain to return to its base if necessary, even if it meets the IPX6 standard which allows it to resist raging elements. Dreame offers as an accessory a shelter priced at €199 which is placed on the docking station.

For impeccable mowing, the machine moves optimally to cover the entire lawn area. If its battery drops below 15%, it will go to the station to recharge before resuming its work at the precise place where it left off. It is capable of tackling a 24° slope thanks to its powerful engine and its highly grippy drive wheels.

A complete application for a personalized experience

The user has the opportunity, in a few clicks on the application, to create work zones, establish prohibited sectors, etc. The cutting height is adjustable between 30 and 70 mm. It will even be possible, thanks to a future update, to determine a different height setting for each previously defined zone. Four mowing modes are accessible, again from the application, which Dreame wanted to be particularly accessible: mowing the entire surrounding surface, mowing defined areas, mowing the edges and spot mode.

Dreame also indicates that its cutting system, a floating blade disc, can be changed very easily and without tools! This disk spins at 2200 revolutions per minute. Here is a technologically interesting product that is in the same category as big names in the sector such as Husqvarna, Gardena or Robomow.

After a first contact during an official demonstration, we look forward to going further by carrying out a complete test.
